 |
Air Sorceress by Werner Klocke |
One of a set of 4 elemental wizards. |
 |
Lamaan by James Van Schaik |
A vastly oversized figure. The metal at his waist
was my first attempt at NMM, not entirely successful. I am more pleased with the
way the crystal ball came out. I may have another attempt at NMM later on, but
for the moment I seem to get better results using metallics.I am still rather of
the view that the main advantage of NMM is that it photographs more reliably
than matallic paints do. |
 |
Bertrand, Traveling Monk by Sylvain Quirion |
We rarely use monks as such- I was never quite sure
if they were meant to be Friar Tuck or Bruce Lee! This figure makes quite a good
travelling mage. |
 |
Marsh troll, by Bob Olley |
I painted this figure a couple of years ago, and I
am still quite pleased with the overall effect, though perhaps it does not stand
large scale photographs as well as my more recent figures. |
 |
Marsh troll - another view |
The troll's lunch - little touches like this give
even a monster character. |
 |
Gibbering Mouther - sorry, that should read
'Faceless Horror', by Julie Guthrie |
Eyes! |
 |
Piers, Young Mage by Sandra Garrity |
I really like this figure. I get fed up with all
male wizards being old and bearded with pointy hats. It was nice to paint
something different. |
 |
Centaur Archer by Sandra Garrity |
This is a huge figure, a cart-horse centaur! I am
really quite pleased with the result. |
 |
The Centaur again - front view |
This view shows why I don't feel the need to mess
about with NMM at the moment. The breastplate was shaded with metallics ranging
from gunmetal to mithril silver, and with washes of black. |
 |
Centaur - other side |

 |
Ametryne Earthlight, by Jason Weibe |
My daughter was playing the Dwarf King in a play
based on Terry Pratchett's "The Fifth Elephant". I painted this for
her as a good-luck charm. I realise it is not really a "Pratchett"
female dwarf, but Lizzie liked the big axe! |
 |
Baerwyn, Male Elf Archer by Gael Goumon |
A somewhat wind-swept elf. I have seen his female
counterpart on quite a few web-sites, so I thought I would put the male up
instead! |
 |
Hyrekia, Half Elf Sorceress by Werner Klocke |
In our gaming world, the elves and the drow are a
lot closer than either would like to admit. This young lady is definitely among
the more dubious elves. I really like this figure, despite the slightly kinky
straps and buckles on her bodice. |
 |
Dark Maiden by Chaz Elliott |
This is a figure to write a scenario around. On the
painting side, I am quite pleased with how the "rusty" swords came
out, and the streaks in the paint on her face. |
 |
Slithe, Queen of Miriamis by Bob Ridolfi |
We've christened this figure the Demonic Dancing
Girl - look at her garb and her pose! Why this Alien Queen lookalike would dress
like this is beyond us! |
 |
Cheetah Girl by Julie Guthrie |
|
 |
Baeldrinahr Argentiel by Bobby Jackson |
|
 |
Birdman by Geoff Valley |
|
 |
Frokuta, Female Gnoll Cleric by Jason Wiebe |
I bought this figure because she looked not unlike
the very old Citadel gnolls we've been using for years. Unfortunately, she
turned out to be twice their size! (Hazards of buying on line.) Strangely, we
had always played our gnolls as vaguely matriarchal - now we know why! |
 |
Quosk Ravensire, Half orc Druid, by James Van
Shaik |
Another rather large figure, and to my eyes more
like an orc than a half-orc, but no less useful for that. |
 |
Hound of Judgment, by Sandra Garrity, from the
Warlord range |
Many years ago White Dwarf published a creature
based on the Cthullu mythos called a "Hound of Tindalos". This is the
closest figure we've seen to represent one of Peter's favourite monsters. |
 |
Octopus, from the Aquatic Familiars by Julie Guthrie |
One of my interests outside gaming is fish-keeping,
so I really could not resist the set of sea creatures by one of my favourite
sculptors. This octopus is one of the best in the set. |
 |
Ray, another from the Aquatic Familiars by Julie
Guthrie |
I did my best to immitate a colouring pattern from a
photo of a real ray for this figure. I'm pleased with the result. |
 |
Female Duelist by Sandra Garrity |
A very simple figure by modern standards, and
smaller than most recent Reaper figures. |
